Keynote 2:
Translated.net integrates MT and crowd-sourcing into it's standard translation workflow
Translated.net builds world-class MT and translator tools in house from toolkits.
11:30 – Pierre Isabelle and Roland Kuhn, our research co-chairs explain the major trends and events in MT Research Research track presentations give a lot of detail on vary narrow subjects, this overview is a chance to get a big-picture view of what's brewing in the international research community.
Lunch – make a dinner date with the people you find interesting

2:00-4:00 Government Track sessions and Commercial User session on MT Workflow
You probably need to track any unfamiliar trends and projects in the government, but be sure to check out at least one of the commercial presentations too.
4:30-6:00 Government HLT Experts and Thematic session on Translation quality and MT If you know the government representatives already, take this opportunity to hear some approaches to monitoring and controlling quality. What you learn here could win you the next proposal!

Friday 28-Aug – Main Conference at the Château Laurier

9:00-12:00 Government program track
You probably need to know more about African languages. And the Indian presentation will address some of the same issues governments all over have to face with less common languages.
11:00-12:30 Panel Discussion: How are the new technology combinations helping users? Listen between the lines to understand what some of the current problems are and how people are addressing them.
Grab a quick lunch; there's a lot to do!
Afternoon
Head for the Technology Showcase, which lasts all afternoon.
See all the translation tools and products that are available. The technology showcase is only open for this one afternoon, so keep moving around the exhibits!
Optional 1: 2:00-5:00 TAUS Data Association roundtable

Optional 2: Tools for translators

If you are involved in government efforts to collect and manage parallel corpora, the TAUS Data Association Roundtable (Workshop 2 – separate registration fee) has a head start and a lot of relevant experience in problems of data sharing.

If you support linguists, spend most of the afternoon at the Tech Showcase, and pop out for the Human Translation sessions from 4:00-5:30. Spend any spare time at the Showcase! Take advantage of the opportunity to network with technology providers and MT users.

7:00 Conference banquet and IAMT Award of Honor
The award speech will be a rare opportunity for insight on how successful careers in MT are made.

Pick the sessions that appeal to you. Don't miss the Japan Patent Office session at 10:00 on their strategic use of MT for patent research and public access!
Keynote Presentations  
11:00 Dan Scott director of the ODNI Foreign Language Program Office on Government use of MT Get the official story on where MT is going! (And then try to catch him in a quiet corner for a candid discussion afterwards)
11:45 Doug Jones of MIT Lincoln Labs Are your customers tired of or baffled by BLEU scores? Doug's work brings a really fresh perspective on MT evaluation.
Lunch – this is your last window of opportunity for a lunch meeting during the main conference.

Touch choices! Saturday afternoon has some of the most operationally relevant research session presentations, AND some of the newest government MT projects reported. Divide and conquer with a trusted colleague and share notes over dinner.
